The Day The Cooling Died
It was 2 p.m. on a Tuesday in July 2024. The building management system said the east wing was 84 degrees. Our receptionist was fanning herself with a folder. The Dyson fan on the front desk was running full blast, but it was just pushing warm air around.

Don't skip the basics either. Change the filters. Clean the coils. Check the thermostat schedule. And if someone asks how to reset a Nest thermostat, keep the manual handy—it's a two-minute fix once you know the sequence. But a thermostat reset won't fix a dying motor.
Bottom line: quality isn't a luxury. It's a brand statement. The $50 difference between a sketchy part and the right part becomes a $1,400 difference when it fails. The $500 difference between a lousy distributor and a qualified one becomes weeks of comfort, trust, and sleep.
I still keep a Dyson fan in the supply closet. But now it's for occasional air circulation, not emergency cooling. I also make sure the engineer has real tools, like the Milwaukee air compressor, and a proper maintenance schedule. And I order AAON parts only from distributors who can prove they know what they're selling.
